Ask the Expert

Q: Can birth control pills help with my period?

Absolutely they can! In fact, birth control pills are often the first and most effective method prescribed by doctors to help women with painful periods or heavy menstrual bleeding, even when those women are not sexually active. Additionally, birth control pills can help you if you want to stop your periods for a short or extended time.
